Some indie stuff today in b/w. Clent is an independent menswear magazine, printed quarterly.  Here is the story taken by South African photographer Olivier Sutton. For me it seems more focused on charachters and portraits than on fashion and a bit reminds me of Boo George works. Especially the one about sailors in Love magazine.

Here `s the last i `m gonna post from a new issue of Vogue Japan. I`m not a fan: of these unstoppable studio shots provided by quartet Daniele + Iango, Natasha Poly and hair stylist Luigi Murenu for Vogue Japan. It`s everytime same old story. However some outfits are a bit nice.

Here is the secound editorial by Patrick from the same issue. Studio shot, very boring, though we can see here some strokes of crazy ADR styling. I suppose, that shooting is the continue of Christian Dior haute Couture/ Patcrick Demarchelier project (you should remember the Rizolli book came out in october 2011) that could hardly being out-takes from this book (since couture shows showcased in Paris this february), but i think that`s just a sequel of this collaboration realized in very dull manner by Vogue Japan.

If my memory serves me good, this is first time for Demarchelier in Nippon Vogue as wel as for Lori. I`m not a fan, but i like that Saskia here plays not her typical role-strange/ androginy/ avangardian/ mature sexy woman role. She`s tanned, with bleached hair kinda avant-gardian barbie-girl. But i don`t really like the fact what on most of the pics we can`t observe her face (it`s hiding behing hard shadows or sunglaces/hands/hair). And i dun like these blue /white lips, this is sick. However i luv that Nippon Vogue loves her.

I love secound cover better, tbh. because this is 80`s and because of Lara showcasing her huge breast. but i was hoping for more... So the editorial (except cover) is dissapointing, Though i still adore this 80`s  hard make-up with way too much accented cheekbones

Tipically 80`s styled editorials. It`s been a while (and i can`t even recall when last time) Glen was working for Vogue Paris. And it`s a pleasure twicely what VP is putting Kristina in it.

It`s been a while since Carine collaboration with Mondion last time, actually, like 20 years. Lately it was for ELLE France, as far as i know it was in 1988. Here we see infamous spanish bullfighter dressed almost everytime in Givenchy, i simply adore earrings (they`re Givenchy as well) and i would even pierce my ears for those. And hard orthopedic thing is dreamy too. But you can easily purshase it in the next-door drugstore (nude colored are nice too). Jose Maria in real life looks much yonger, but here thanks to tensed emotions and breaded face he is lookin` way too older.

Portraits of personalities by Weber. Roitfeld styling isn`t very recognizable. i hink that`s because Carine haven`t worked with men`s fashion longtime yet. However, her theme with orthopedic/medical devices is revealed.

Finally i can show you full yet unseen parts of the issue. That spring edition is very discussed thanks to V promotion. Almost full styled by Roitfeld, i think you` ve already heared what there is no models and you`ve already seen Victoria`s Secret girls calendar, so i won`t bother you. Here is a cover story and a first Carine collaboration featuring Nick. The secound one translated via showstudio web site in real time- mode and showcased Lara Stone lessons of self-defence in best outfits of s/s season according to madame Roitfeld. Will see results in the next issue of V (i just hope what it`s not gonna be photoshopped to death as sometimes Nick does, because then we won`t see any result of Carine work). Concerning this collaboration- i don`t want to discuss Tahar actor`s capacities, since i simply haven`t seen his movies. Photos are too simple as well as the styling, but it`s a celeb-story, so it`s normal, the magazine should keep his personality on pics.

Play for today: Plein Sud [22 Feb 2012|03:36pm]

yala_agni
The final one for today. I just showed you the evolving of visual execution of one particular brand`s advertising. I think, that`s actually not bad, i mean the direction is right, thogh clothes are often leaves much to be desired...Today we see ressurection of yet luxurious clothing brands quite often (Mugler, Roccobarocco among others) and i think if we speak about ad camapigns, plein sud reached much more in this case, than Mugler and Roccobarocco. In the past season Roccobarocco released advertising taken by Mert & Marcus with Iris Strubegger, but there was only one image projected, as far as i know, so that`s not so much. Mugler is discussed and hardly promoted thanks to Nicola Formichetti, but they don`t have a visual advertising, only non-paying publications provided by hard-working PR- department.
That campaign is a repeat for Akrans: she already did it many times even with same model. It reminds too much Numero # 73 may 2007 as well as # 73 with Marta Berzkalna. Horsey- dominatrix theme. with ponytail and rough clothes+ athletic body. Shannan dyed her hair back in blonde and became victoria`s secret- only model. It is decay from a standpoint of high-fashion there she was working when was brunette (she`s naturally blonde), but from a point of commercial success that`s better because catalogs pays nice money, while editorials giving chicken feed, it is just promo and image-building story for model.

Here is a bit more interesting campaign realisation. Lara Stone started this vawe of blonds with plumpy lips and bleached brows (and gapped teeth) and everyone thinks that this looks way too sexy. Me- i `m not...So im not a fan of Hailey (for me she `s a bit more attractive Daphne). However Plein Sud was always having this agressive va-va-voom vibe. Kinda Jitrois: heels, leather etc. How`s `bout Sean & Seng photographic duo- sometimes i like thier works, sometimes they`re repetitive. For Numero magazine they sometimes bring some interesting points to the totally lackluster issues. So at least we should be thankful for that.

It`s been a while since Plain Sud putted his advertising in major publications like Vogue, i have a feeling what the company not just stopped production advertising camapigns, but just stop fonctioning on the market. Its last try was in 2002 featuring Amanda Moore and photographed by Steven Klein. During 90`s-zero`s models like Shalom Harlow, Milla Jovovich, Eva Herzigova, Rie Rasmussen, Delfine Bafort, Lisa Ratliffe, Kylie Bax, Carmen Kass, Vivien Solari, Karolina Kurkova among others modeled for Plain Sud seasonal campaigns, and Sean Ellis <3, Sthephane Sednaoui, Steven Klein, Helmut Newton took pictures. Plain Sud backed in magazines in fall 2011 when we saw Julia Stegner on pages of Vogue Paris. So here is that campaign. Collection itself is a combination of hot items of the past from Plein. Enjoy (with my comments)) Btw, any ideas, who`s photographer?

Last one for today. I have to confess: the first image behind the cut is the only one i like. Vogue Paris already got that story- it was in february 2003 with Elise Crombez taken by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Barbieri and the title was "en attendant la nuit" And it was much more interesting. Here we see "double -life" story: evening looks from NYC streets stands near daily outfits with jean hot-pants and shabby tank tops, pajamas. Lots of tits (not really beautiful) and evening looks reminds way too much the story with Karmen from december issue shot by Slimane. Nothin` impressive...

Today i`ll provide the rest of Vogue Paris eds content. Here is "from runway to reality" version of studio shoot viewed by Alt. 8 designers total looks or combined with loafers, jeans every fucking time! Alt simply can`t see any of item without jeans and street fashion is certainly means sneakers/sporty/teenager outward. That`s truly dull, actually, no imagination+ total looks. Can you imagine something more repetitive and boring, though there is some nice combo, so be ready for my comments to each look, because that shoot is only about styling and how you can manage it. I love that kind of "tutorials", because then magazine play his main role- help readers get ahead in reaching that tough goal- be fashionable without turning into fashion victim.

I haven`t put this editorial first, just because i don`t find it rather curious/interesting/remarkable. In my indiscreet opinion, it is more Russian Harper`s Bazaar than Vogue Paris, furthermore, Mert & Marcus seems to be the most pricey contributors for Vogue Paris and their appearance supposed to be always a small event for readers. Then Carine Roitfeld worked with photographic duo it looked more as a catalog- story, it was more a styling galore than an imaginary whimsical stories they create with Lalaland (production agency), Kt Grand(stylist)or Alex White (stylist as well) and Gerard Santos (set design artist) for Love, Pop, W. But Emmanuelle accomplish this story in way too simple and pointless shoot, which supposed to reveal and reflect Natalia`s personality in a new androgyny, careless and avant-garde way, but in point of fact it turned out so off, dull and faceless...And yes, the most dumbass typography i `ve ever seen in my whole life...
